Peter J. “P. ” McGuire (1852–1906) was one of the founders of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners in 1881. Some records show that he created Labor Day, which was first celebrated in 1882. Samuel McIntire (1757–1811) was a master carpenter, woodcarver, and architect in New England during the late 18th century.
